Robert Lewandowski has dominated the headlines this past few weeks, with speculations linking him with a move to FC Barcelona.
The forward is believed to be keen on leaving Bayern Munich in the summer after winning almost everything in Bavaria. He has even confirmed he will not be penning a new deal to a contract that expires at the end of next season.
Bayern have been apprehensive about offloading Lewandowski, but with the player visibly frustrated with the board, the Bavarians are in the market for potential solutions.
Lewandowski, for one, has not remained tight-lipped on the situation and has hinted at his desire to leave Bayern on multiple occasions.
Currently preparing for international duty with Poland, Lewandowski was once again asked about his future, in a recent interview with Eleven Sports.
The striker remained coy on his situation, in regards to a potential move to FC Barcelona. But he apparently finds it difficult to imagine playing for Bayern Munich next season, in what could serve as a massive boost for the Catalans.
“Barça move? It depends on several factors. I think my situation is clear and there is no point talking about that,” Lewandowski told Eleven Sports (h/t Fabrizio Romano)
“It is hard to say that I will play for Bayern next season”, he added.
While Lewandowski remains optimistic about a move to Barcelona, it does not do a great deal in changing the situation for the Catalans, who are facing an economic crisis and are struggling to meet Bayern Munich’s price tag for the star striker.
At the end of the day, Barcelona might have to rely heavily on player sales. They have recently sanctioned the exit of Philippe Coutinho, but the likes of Miralem Pjanic, Antoine Griezmann and Martin Braithwaite must depart in order to generate the additional revenue.
