It was a very tough one to take yesterday for Thomas Tuchel and his Chelsea players.
After going through the whole of March unbeaten and winning every single match despite all of the negativity going on off of the field, they went and lost their first match in April 4-1 against a team who have been fighting to stay out of a relegation battle.
Brentford were the deserved winners as they trampled over Tuchel’s side, who had a very bad day in the office collectively.
There were mistakes and bad performances from the players right up to Tuchel, who’s tactics and line-up was more than questionable on the day.
But Tuchel has also been right in highlighting what was a very flat atmosphere inside Stamford Bridge during the game, with fans really failing to get behind the team and create an atmosphere that made it hard for the visitors.
Thomas Tuchel throwing down a challenge to Chelsea supporters ahead of Real Madrid.
“We need a better atmosphere against Real Madrid. It was a bit – in the first half [against Brentford] – like a friendly match and it felt like it.”
