Carlos Soler is staring at an uncertain future as we near the summer transfer window. His current contract at Valencia expires in 2023, with the midfielder facing enormous pressure to renew his contract.

Soler has a close connection with Valencia, but he is quite unhappy with coach Jose Bordalas, which could ultimately lead to his exit.

With 35 goals and 31 assists in 222 competitive appearances for Valencia, Soler should find no shortage of suitors, with even Barcelona among the clubs reportedly keen on his services.

The midfielder himself is said to be aware of the interest from the Catalans. He is fancying a move to Camp Nou as well, but the move could be possible only on one condition, reports Gerard Romero.

The reputed Spanish journalist has revealed that Soler has told all the close people around him he would welcome a move to Barcelona next season if the club can get rid of Frenkie de Jong.

Soler is aware of the fact that Barcelona might not be able to afford any new midfielder if they fail to offload the Dutchman, whose exit could hand them a major financial injection ahead of the new season.

It appears the Valencia superstar would relish the challenge of replacing the former Ajax starlet. The move may not appeal to many Barcelona fans as there is certainly a disparity of quality between the two individuals.

But with his experience and technical prowess, Soler could prove to be a better fit in Xavi’s tactical setup than de Jong. He is versatile enough to play out wide as well, making him an interesting piece in the puzzle for Barça.

However, signing the Valencia star could be tricky as his pursuit directly depends on the future of de Jong.

The midfielder has been closely linked with a move to Manchester United, but he has shown no indication of his desire to leave Camp Nou. He is happy with life in Barcelona and wants to become a part of the club’s long-term success under Xavi.
