Roy Keane has hailed Chelsea star Kai Havertz for showing “a bit of arrogance”.

The former Manchester United bruiser tipped his hat to Havertz, 22, ahead of the Blues’ FA Cup semi-final with Crystal Palace at Wembley. He told ITV Sport: “It looks like he’s got a bit of arrogance, and he does back it up.

“But it took him a while to adapt to the English game. Again, he’s a talented boy, a big presence.” However, Keane wouldn’t have been impressed when the Germany international, who was leading the line for Thomas Tuchel, was booked for diving in the first half.

Havertz has bagged 22 goals for Chelsea since his 2020 move from Bundesliga side Bayer Leverkusen, including the crucial strike in the 1-0 Champions League final triumph over Manchester City last year.

Although he’s still developing in the Premier League, Tuchel compared him to three great strikers who have graced the English top flight earlier this week. “I see a bit of Dennis Bergkamp, Robin Van Persie, [Dimitar] Berbatov kind of player,” the Chelsea boss told Premier League Productions.

“He can play in the half position because he has good runs, but also feels free from the nine and creates overload to one side. When I watched him at Leverkusen, I didn’t know that I would coach him.

“When I watched him at Paris [Saint-Germain], they made him play as a nine which was very interesting. I remember when I watched a cup final against Bayern [Munich] with my staff and said, ‘This could be a good role for him’.”
