Frenkie de Jong has attracted all the headlines in the European footballing media this week, with many linking him with a move away from Camp Nou.
Manchester United have mainly been linked with a move for the Dutchman, with their new coach Erik ten Hag eyeing a potential reunion at Old Trafford in the coming season.
However, according to a report from Diario SPORT, it appears PSG are another club keeping close tabs on de Jong’s current situation at Barça.
The freshly crowned French champions are anticipating a major overhaul in the midfield department this summer. They are expected to sanction the sale of fringe players including Leandro Paredes, Ander Herrera and the underperforming Georginio Wijnaldum.
Even the likes of Idrissa Gueye and Dina Ebimbe are running the risk of being offloaded, with the PSG board determined to reshape the squad following yet another disappointing season in Europe.
PSG consider Frenkie de Jong to be an ideal reinforcement in the midfield department. His experience, leadership and technical qualities could make him an upgrade over Paredes and Danilo.
The Dutchman could prove to be an ideal midfield partner for Marco Verratti and their collective technical prowess could improve PSG’s approach play tenfold.
However, Frenkie remains determined to remain at Camp Nou despite the noise around him. The midfielder is happy with his life in the city and has recently purchased a new house.
Barcelona themselves have appeared reluctant in sanctioning the sale of their Frenkie de Jong. Even though the midfielder is their best source of generating a sizable revenue this summer, the Catalans are holding out for a hefty €100 million.
It should greatly put off PSG and even Manchester United, who are yet to make any noticeable strides in their pursuit of the Dutch international this summer.
