Brazilian outlet UOL published the allegations against Antony’s former partner on Monday.

Sao Paulo and Greater Manchester Police are investigating the allegations but the player has denied it.

The 23-year-old has been dropped from the Brazil squad after allegations surfaced.

United says:
“Manchester United acknowledges the allegations against Antony and notes that police are investigating. Pending further information, the club will not comment further.

“As a club, we take this matter seriously, taking into account the impact these allegations and subsequent reports they will have on victims of abuse. .”

Antony said on social media:
“I can calmly say that the charges are false and that the evidence that has been presented and other evidence will be presented that shows that I am innocent of the charges brought forward.”

Antony is accused of assaulting his ex-girlfriend Gabriela Cavallin ‘with the butt’ in a hotel room in Manchester on January 15, causing her to cut off her head and require medical treatment.
She also alleges that she was punched in the chest, damaged her silicone breast implants and had to undergo corrective surgery.

Antony added in Monday’s statement that his relationship with his ex-partner was “chaotic”, but insisted he “never committed any act of physical assault”.

He also released a statement in June asserting that he had been falsely accused by his ex-girlfriend of domestic violence. Greater Manchester Police (GMP) said it was “aware of the allegations made and investigations are underway to determine the circumstances surrounding this report”.

He added:
“We will have no further comment at this time.”
