Makinde Approves RCCG Pastor, Prince Afolabi Olaoye as New Soun of Ogbomoso

The Oyo State Lead representative, Seyi Makinde, on Saturday, supported the arrangement of a minister with the Reclaimed Christian Church of God, Sovereign Afolabi Ghandi Olaoye, as the new Soun of Ogbomosoland.

It should be recalled that Oba Jimoh Oyewumi Ajagungbade III died in December 2021, at the age of 95, after ruling for 48 years. This left the stool empty.

The choice of the new ruler had turned into the subject of a legal dispute as the Director, Evaluating Panel for the Laoye administering house, in Ogbomoso, Abdulwahab Laoye, said the family had not chosen anyone to fill the empty stool of Soun of Ogbomoso, excusing as simple hints, virtual entertainment report that somebody had been chosen.

He said the decision house had been shocked with the reports that one Ghandi Afolabi, a minister with the RCCG, had been chosen.

“We didn’t choose Ghandi and he isn’t among the 11 that the screening council chose from 23 candidates. We don’t believe that the matter should decline to the degree of case. We scheduled a meeting on February 23 and invited the council to observe. However, the council took over the process and added seven more people, claiming that all seven had equal access to the Expression of Interest form. This brought the total number of applicants to 18, according to a statement released on Saturday in Ibadan, the state capital, by the Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Matters, Olusegun Olayiwola.

“His Excellency congratulates the new Soun-elect on his ascension to the throne of his forebears,” Olayiwola said.

The magistrate said the commended position had set the ruler choose in the situation to work with amicability, understanding, and resilience among his kin.

Additionally, he urged all Ogbomoso descendants to collaborate with the monarch to build on his ancestors’ successes.
