Chelsea are rolling with the punches that the club’s takeover saga has thrown their way. Todd Boehly’s consortium, Stephen Pagliuca and a group headed by Sir Martin Broughton remain in the running after the Ricketts family withdrew their proposal.

In the midst of takeover updates that have swamped the headlines, Thomas Tuchel’s side remain at the centre of the transfer rumour mill with plenty of players tied to moves to and from the Blues. Regardless of whoever takes the reins from Abramovich, Chelsea will be looking to strengthen in the summer, primarily in the midfield areas and back-three.

With that in mind, has rounded up some of the latest transfer rumours surrounding the club. Whether it be a contract crisis or transfer breakthrough, this summer is poised to be a rollercoaster window!

Reece James

Real Madrid have set their sights on signing Chelsea defender Reece James ahead of the upcoming transfer window, according to reports. The Mirror claim that Carlo Ancelotti has placed the 22-year-old at the top of his summer shopping list.

The Spanish giants have watched James on nine occasions this season as Ancelotti looks to revamp his ageing side. Though it could take some effort; the Cobham graduate doesn’t see his contract at Stamford Bridge expire until 2025 and is currently valued at £49.5 million.

Ruben Loftus-Cheek has ‘no desire’ to leave Chelsea at the end of the season, as per The Athletic. The 26-year-old has two years remaining on his current Blues deal which he signed at the heights of his fortunes under Maurizio Sarri in 2019.

Romelu Lukaku

The prospect of Romelu Lukaku joining Paris Saint-Germain seems to rest on whether Kylian Mbappe decides to pen a new deal at Les Parc des Princes, according to reports. The Athletic have outlined that the French outfit ‘have the resources’ to secure the 28-year-old’s signature, but they ‘haven’t yet given up hope’ on extending Mbappe’s future.

If the report is to be believed then it looks as if the Belgium international has been sidelined until pieces higher on their list fall into place. The Athletic also say that Lukaku, who is valued at £76.5m by Transfermarkt, has been snubbed by former side Inter Milan, who have made 23-year-old Sassuolo striker Gianluca Scamacca their primary target this summer.

Jorginho would want to be in the same salary bracket as Dusan Vlahovic at Juventus amid growing links that tie the Chelsea midfielder to a Serie A return, according to Italian newspaper La Gazzetta dello Sport, via Fichajes. The 30-year-old sees his contract in west London expire at the end of next season and has been strong linked with a move to the Old Lady this summer.
