Speaking on the FIVE YouTube channel, journalist and transfer guru Fabrizio Romano has confirmed that Barcelona already have two deals in place ahead of the summer transfer window.
The Italian journalist has claimed that the Blaugrana have completed the signings of Chelsea defender Andreas Christensen and AC Milan midfielder Franck Kessie, both of whom will be free agents at the end of the season
While there have been plenty of reports in the media claiming that the deals for the duo had been completed, Romano’s seal of approval can be perceived as good as confirmation.
Christensen has been with Chelsea for almost a decade now, but has never been able to establish himself as a regular starter. However, the Dane did play a key role in the Blues’ UEFA Champions League success last season.
At 26 years of age, the centre-back has his best years in front of him. So even though there have been some poor performances of late, Christensen can be a solid addition for the Blaugrana for a number of years to come.
As for Kessie, the Ivorian has established himself as one of the best midfielders in Serie A over the past few years. The AC Milan superstar has been key to their rise under manager Stefano Pioli in the past couple of seasons.
The 25-year-old is a powerhouse of a central midfielder who is renowned for his ball-winning and ball-carrying capabilities. In addition, his physicality and goalscoring prowess will add a different flavour to the Barcelona midfield department.
Signing two players with plenty of experience at the highest level and their best years in front of them, on free transfers is a coup for the Catalan giants.
More arrivals are certainly on the cards at Camp Nou in the summer. At the same time, Barcelona will need to make room for the incoming players by offloading the deadwood from the current roster.
