Fabrizio Romano has said it is too soon for Leeds United to wager on the future of Raphinha amid intense speculation on the Brazilian winger.
The 25-year-old has been heavily linked with a move to Catalan giants Barcelona, particularly by Romano himself, but it appears the renowned journalist has now backtracked on his previous comments with his latest update.
Taking to his Twitter account (27 April), Romano said the two clubs were yet to engage in any negotiations and the discussions which have happened thus far have only been between his agent Deco and the Spaniards.
still no talks Barça/Leeds – it’s only on player side. Too early to say he’s close to join FCB – even because he’s focused on Leeds now, important games are coming

“Still no talks Barça/Leeds – it’s only on player side,” he reported.
“Too early to say he’s close to join Barcelona – even because he’s focused on Leeds now, important games are coming.”
Saga Continues
It’s been the story which seems to just keep going round and round in circles and with this latest update we’re still nowhere closer to knowing the future of Raphinha.
At least this latest development suggests the Brazilian has his full focus on Leeds at the moment, which is sorely needed with the club still in significant danger of relegation heading into the Premier League run-in.
Although his form has dipped in recent weeks he has still popped up with some vital contributions and they could yet be a telling factor in avoiding a drop to the second tier.
Leeds held off interest from West Ham in January for Raphinha’s services and their decision seems to have been vindicated with the interest continuing to swirl and likely driving his price even further upwards.
If he keeps the club in the Premier League, and Barcelona come in with a hefty bid, there won’t be too many Leeds fans who will begrudge the Brazilian for making the move.
