A real talent, but what is he going to do next?

Conor Gallagher has responded to the unsurprising news that Crystal Palace want to sign him from Chelsea on a permanent basis.

The young English midfielder has been incredible this season, and it’s not unfair to say he has been the most important part of Patrick Vieira’s exciting project.

It’s clear that nobody at Palace wants to see him go back to Chelsea at the end of the season, including chairman Steve Parish.

Speaking at the club’s award ceremony on Tuesday night, he said: “We would love to have him back. We’re not going to pretend that that’s not the case.

“Conor will make his own choices of course, but the club will have something to say about it. But we’ve enjoyed every minute of having him here this year.

“If that’s all we get off him, we hope it’s not, but he’s been a fantastic asset to the club as a player but also a person as well.”

Conor Gallagher Chelsea return?

Gallagher also spoke on Tuesday night, knowing he is under pressure from the Palace fans to return on a permanent deal.

“The support I get from them every game, even here today, is just amazing. It’s a great feeling for me. They’ve made me feel so welcome, and I thank them for that.”

A number of Chelsea fans online are reading into Gallagher’s comments, insisting that him thanking the Palace fans for their support this season could be a sign he isn’t planning on resigning.

Chelsea do have some very strong players in Gallagher’s position, including Jorginho, N’Golo Kate and Mateo Kovacic, but each of them are at least six years older than the Englishman.

This does feel like it could be one of the more drawn out transfer sagas of the summer. Watch this space…
