In a recent report, Tutto Juve mentioned that Chelsea are set to be offered Juventus midfielder in exchange for Jorginho this summer. It is understood that the Blues could be offered the Juve midfield ace but only if they send the Italy international in the other direction.
Rabiot’s Encouraging Season In Italian Football
Rabiot is enjoying a solid campaign at the Allianz Stadium as he has put in a run of dominant displays at the centre of Juve’s midfield. The Frenchman has made 39 appearances for the Italian outfit this season, picking up two assists in the process across all competitions.
The 27-year-old has proven himself to be a valuable contributor at the centre of Juve’s midfield based on his average of 1.9 tackles, 0.6 interceptions, 1.0 clearances, 0.9 shots, 0.6 key passes and 1.4 dribbles per 90 minutes in Serie A. He has even been tidy when distributing the ball from midfield after making 83.8% of his attempted passes in top-flight football (stats via whoscored).
Chelsea Set To Offered Rabiot In Exchange Of Jorginho: Good Move For Thomas Tuchel?
Rabiot is a solid tackler of the ball and can scan the danger quickly to secure possession back for his side at the centre of the park. He usually steps in to clear the danger when the opposition are on the offensive. The France international can even make some intelligent runs with the ball towards the opponent’s penalty area and is a tidy passer of the ball from midfield.
Rabiot will undoubtedly enhance the quality of Chelsea‘s midfield department and could serve as an ideal replacement for Jorginho whose contract at Stamford Bridge runs out in the summer of 2023.
Thus, it makes sense for the Blues to let the Italian leave in exchange for a midfielder of Rabiot’s skillset. At 27, the Juve star is currently playing in his prime and would add more energy and quality to Tuchel’s midfield at the West London club. Therefore, it will be a good move for every involved for Chelsea to let Jorginho go and sign Rabiot as he could help them challenge for some major trophies over the next few seasons.
